It’s going to take a lot of educating for people to jump on the Green real estate band wagon. What better way to educate than with a Green college building right here in the City?
The New College has quietly purchased this old hotel on Fillmore and Fell and will soon transform it into the New College Green Living Center at Casa Loma.The student housing center will shoot for LEED Gold Certification and hopes to include On-Site Renewable energy (with both photovoltaic panels and solar hot water), high efficiency radiant heating, on site composting, and non-toxic and low-emitting materials and finishes for improved air quality.
Apparently the mortgage on this building is quite steep so they the school is looking to fund raise and partner up with some deep green pockets. Anyone with a spare dime who is into aiding this project should contact the Green Living Center.
